Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ideal temperature for slicing frozen meat blocks?
For optimal results with HSYL heavy-duty frozen meat slicers, the ideal meat temperature is between -4°C and -8°C. If the meat is too hard (below -18°C), it may damage the blade or shorten the machine's lifespan. If it is too soft (above -2°C), the slices may not be uniform. We recommend tempering deep-frozen blocks slightly before processing.
Can the HSYL Meat Grinder process bone-in meat or whole chickens?
Standard meat grinders are designed for boneless meat only. Processing bones in a standard grinder will damage the auger and blade. However, we offer specialized "Bone Paste Grinders" or "Meat-Bone Separators" specifically engineered with reinforced gears and high-torque motors to handle poultry carcasses and soft bones for pet food or filler production.
How does Vacuum Tumbling improve meat quality compared to regular marinating?
A vacuum tumbler extracts air from the drum, which expands the pores and fibers of the meat (beef, poultry, or pork). This allows the marinade or brine to penetrate deep into the muscle tissue instantly rather than just sitting on the surface. The result is significantly improved tenderness, better flavor consistency, and higher product yield (weight retention) in a fraction of the time required for static marinating.
What safety features are included in your Bone Saw machines?
Safety is our top priority. HSYL bone saws are equipped with a safety push rod (to keep hands away from the blade), a heavy-duty emergency stop button, and a door sensor that immediately cuts power if the machine casing is opened. We also recommend operators wear stainless steel mesh gloves as an added precaution.
What is the difference between a Bowl Cutter (Chopper) and a Meat Grinder?
A meat grinder pushes meat through a plate to create strands (mince), providing a coarse texture suitable for burgers or sausages. A Bowl Cutter uses high-speed rotating blades to chop meat into a fine emulsion or paste. It is the essential machine for making frankfurters, bologna, and smooth-textured meat fillings where fat and water need to be perfectly emulsified.
How do I prevent metal contamination in my meat processing line?
We strongly recommend integrating a metal detector at the end of your processing line, especially after grinding or slicing operations where blade fragments could theoretically occur. All HSYL machines are built with high-quality stainless steel to minimize wear, but a final CCP (Critical Control Point) metal detector is industry best practice for consumer safety.
Can I adjust the dice size on the Automatic Meat Dicer?
Yes, HSYL dicers utilize a multi-grid blade system. You can change the cutting grid set to achieve different cube sizes (e.g., 5mm, 10mm, 20mm, or 30mm). The machine also features a "pre-compression" knob that ensures the meat is held firm before cutting, ensuring perfectly square cubes rather than irregular shapes.
Why is my meat changing color during grinding?
If meat turns grey or brown during grinding, it is usually due to "frictional heat." This happens if the grinder blades are dull or if the fit between the blade and plate is loose. HSYL grinders are designed with precision-machined parts to minimize friction, but operators must ensure blades are sharpened regularly and the locking ring is tightened correctly to preserve the bright red color of the meat.
Are your machines waterproof for high-pressure cleaning?
Most of our industrial meat processing equipment is rated IP65. The electrical control boxes are sealed, and the motors are protected. You can wash down the mechanical parts (hopper, blades, conveyor) with water. However, never direct high-pressure water jets directly at the control panel buttons or electrical vents.
What is the advantage of a Double-Screw (Twin Auger) Vacuum Filler over a Vane Pump?
Double-screw vacuum fillers treat the meat emulsion more gently. They minimize "smearing" (separation of fat and lean) and maintain the texture of the product better than vane pumps. They are the preferred choice for high-quality sausage production where distinct particle definition and texture are important.
