A mushroom filling trial should show how the proposed arrangement handles the intended grade range. A demonstration using uniform, carefully selected mushrooms may not represent the material entering a commercial line.
Define the product form and pack presentation before selecting samples. Then follow the mushrooms through handling and filling so that changes can be located rather than attributed to the final machine alone.
Establish the grade distribution
Record the incoming lot and the size or grade information relevant to the buyer's specification. Identify whether whole mushrooms, pieces or another form will be packed. Retain the sample-selection basis.
If grades will be processed separately, make that operating decision explicit. If the equipment must handle a mixed range, the trial needs to represent that range rather than quietly separating difficult material.

Assess handling before fill measurements
Inspect the product at receiving, after selected preparation and at the feed point. Record visible damage and interventions. Use a consistent photographic method so that comparisons are meaningful.
| Trial point | Observation |
|---|---|
| Feeding | Bridging, orientation, interruptions and manual correction |
| Transfer | Damage, accumulation and product distribution |
| Filling | Measurement basis and behaviour across the grade range |
| Medium addition | Product movement and pack condition |
| Container inspection | Presentation and condition before closing |
Keep appearance and quantity distinct
Agree how accepted presentation will be judged and how fill measurements will be made. A container with acceptable total weight may still fail a whole-mushroom presentation requirement.
Discuss the intended range with the mushroom canned production line supplier. Record the actual machine configuration, product condition and container reference rather than treating every mushroom-line description as the same test basis.
Close the trial with restrictions as well as results
State the grades and conditions supported by the evidence. Identify where a guide, feed method or operating procedure needs a change and what must be repeated. Keep the original observations with the conclusion.
The mushroom browning investigation guide addresses a different appearance question and should not be used to infer the cause of every damaged or dark sample. Use the vegetable line guide to connect trial findings with preparation and downstream handling.
